Jean Patou introduced the fragrance Jean Patou 1000 for women into the marketplace in 1972. The nose who constructed this perfume for the popular designer house was Jean Kerleo.
1000 for women is available in two different concentrations. Eau de toilette and eau de parfum. The scent is the same for both, however the eau de parfum concentration is stronger. Therefore, less is needed of the eau de parfum concentration when applying it on your skin or clothes. Also, the scent itself will last longer than the eau de toilette concentration of 1000 by Jean Patou.
In 1983, Michael Edwards created a system for classifying perfumes called the Fragrance Wheel. According to this classification system, there are fourteen different Families. Jean Patou 1000 is part of the Mossy Woods Family. Dominant notes of Oakmoss and Amber are characteristic of perfumes classified as Mossy Woods.
Each Family defined in the Fragrance Wheel is divided into four more subcategories called Fresh, Crisp, Classical, and Rich. These divisions correspond to different intensities of the dominant fragrance notes associated with each Family. Think of these intensities like the differences between Soprano (Fresh), Alto (Crisp), Tenor (Classical), and Bass (Rich). Jean Patou 1000 is in the Rich subdivision of the Mossy Woods Family.
There are three segments that make up a fragrance’s life, which are labeled Top Notes, Middle Notes, and Base Notes. These segments occur because each fragrance note that compose a cologne or perfume have differing rates of volatility or evaporation. Therefore, Jean Patou 1000 goes through three distinct stages.
Top Notes are the initial impact a perfume gives when applied to the skin, and lasts about 10 to 20 minutes. The Top Notes for 1000 by Jean Patou are Coriander, Green Notes, Bergamot, and Tangerine.
Middle Notes are the most dominant, and usually last for the majority of the perfume’s life. The Middle Notes for Patou 1000 are Orris Root, Violet, Jasmine, Osmanthus, Lily of the Valley, Rose, and Geranium.
The Base Notes are the longest lasting qualities of a perfume. The Base Notes for 1000 Perfume are Sandalwood, Amber, Musk, Patchouli, Civet, Oakmoss, and Vetiver.
