Reading through all of the reviews that have been rated below 5, it seems to me that some of those people purchasing the software may not have a clear picture of what it does, and does not do. I have always had a very hard time managing finances, and have never been able to handle a budget well at all. It practically holds your hand in making a budget and even gives you yellow and red “flags” for things you need to correct! If you are a beginner to advanced computer user, you should completely appreciate this product and be able to use it.

In looking for a good budgeting system, I have tried Quicken, and MS Monkey, and both of them are completely overwhelming. I have no idea how to use them, and do not have the time to learn them. After a very well explained and easy to understand start up process with an illustrated mini video clip to show you how to begin using this program you will be well on your way to getting a handle on YOUR finances and not YOUR finances getting a hold of you. I’ve used several budgeting tools before and I always get bored with them. For some reason, this YNAB made it more fun for me. Instead of spending blindly and wondering where all our money went, we now know exactly where it went, but more importantly we know ahead where it is going. YNAB makes all of this easy to keep track of, but as mentioned by other reviewers it isn’t a miraculous “fix it” program. I gave up after several frustrating hours. I tried to budget with my own excel spreadsheet but that was too tedious to stick to for more than a day. It requires dedication and commitment on your part to make the program work, but I can assure you that if you buy this program and apply the four rules it will change your financial situation quicker than you can believe. If you are looking for a full accounting program then move on to one of the others, but if like me you are drowning in debt and tired of living from one pay day to another, then seriously consider getting YNAB. After a month of heavy use with the app, I only encountered one very minor bug, and it was fixed 2 days later in a software update that was pushed to me. YNAB is easily head and shoulders above either of those programs.
