After Life: This is a beautifully informed story of case workers at a train station between the heavens who help the recently departed pick a lone minute from their pasts to live inside forever. This is a calm, poetic assessment of life, death, and memory, filled with soft humor and blessedly free of some feel-excellent bromides. Cujo: Sincerely terrifying adaptation of Stephen King thriller about a female and her child terrorized by a rabid St. Bernard. The plot develops gradually and is undoubtedly too horrifying (although not gory) for kids. Cast includes Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh-Kelly, Christopher Rock, and Factories Watson. (91 minutes,’83)

High Crimes: Lawyer Claire Kubik has just been told that her husband is not who she thinks he is. Tom Kubik is really Ron Chapman, and he is on trial in the military justice system for the murder of villagers in Latin America. Claire takes on the case but just what will she find out, as the truth is unraveled?

Hannibal: It has been ten years since Hannibal had escaped. Mason Verger, Hannibal’s sixth victim, a survivor, has obsessive revenge on his mind. His plot includes using agent Starling for bait. He feels Hannibal will not be able to resist.

Adios Amigo: Eccentric western comedy, written, produced, and directed by Williamson, who plays a patsy to con guy Pryor. There is no sex or brutality in this harmless film, but it just doesn’t quite work. Cast includes Fred Williamson, Richard Pryor, Thalmus Rasulala, James Brown, and Robert Phillips. Directed by Fred Williams (1975-Comedy 87 minutes rated PG)

Spellbound: Riveting story of psychiatrist Bergman trying to expose Poke’s hang-ups; Dali fantasy patterns, industrious and Oscar winning Miklos Rozsa helps Hitchcock build another brilliant film.
