Many good action movies were made in the 1990s but one that tops the chart is Speed. The reason why the Speed movie tops the chart of action movies is because it did not follow the same old trend but was made in an extremely unique setting. About 90% of the movie is shot in a bus filled with people going round the city; well you might wonder what is so unique about watching a bus for most of the movie. Well, a psychopath wants to prove his point and has planted a bomb on the bus and is enjoying the scene from the comfort of his house.

The concept of the movie is very simple but the way it is shown is absolutely brilliant. Dennis Hooper plays the role of a twisted maniac called Howard Payne, who has planted a bomb on one of the citys buses. Whats different is that once the bus crosses the 50 mph mark it cannot drop below that speed, if it does, the entire bus will blow up. This unique concept keeps the audience engrossed as the bus passes through different scenarios such as traffic, road blocks and even a flyover that is not completely built.

The main character of the movie is the character of Officer Jack Traven played by Keanu Reeves who gets on the bus to save the day. Howard Payne actually sets up Jack for this task as the officer had spoilt Paynes last plot. Keanu Reeves comes up with a strong performance and blends into his role really well. Apart from his acting, the stunts he pulls off are just outright brilliant, especially the one where he goes under the fast moving bus to try to get rid of the bomb.

The protagonist of the movie is none other than the Keanu Reeves who plays the role of Officer Jack Traven. He has been on the lookout for Payne for a while and Payne actually sets Officer Jack up to this task as he had ruined the maniacs last effort. Keanu Reeves fits into the role of a cop perfectly and comes up with some stunning and scary looking stunts, especially the one where he has to go under the moving bus to try to defuse the bomb.

Overall, the movie is a combination of great acting by the lead stars and amazing action scenes provided by director Jan de Bont. Right from the first scene to last the movie provides sheer adrenaline. The movie also comes with some really catchy bad guy lines that you just cant stop repeating, one such instance is when Officer Jack tells Howard Payne, Youre crazy, Payne replies saying, Poor people are crazy Jack, Im eccentric.
