Before You Book Your First Cruise

Each year more people than ever choose to go on a cruise holiday. Whether it is couples or families the cruise firms are planning more and bigger ships to cope with the projected requirements.

If you have never been on a cruise before it is important to make a point that you choose the right cruise liner and itinerary for your needs. Your overall enjoyment of your cruise holiday will depend on a number of factors and if you do not get these correct it is possible you may not enjoy your first cruise experience as you could.

For anyone with no interest in history or culture there would not be any point in taking a cruise to see the Baltic capitol cities around Europe. If you want the chance of better weather with some fascinating stops then a cruise around the Mediterranean would be more suitable. If you are looking for great weather a Caribbean cruise may be the correct choice. When choosing a Caribbean cruise make sure you think about the possibility of bad storms that could affect your vacation.

The standard of vessel can also be a very important consideration for anyone going on their inaugural cruise. If your idea of hell is getting dressed up each night for dinner then you need to make sure the cruise you select has a variable dinning regime. This also applies if you enjoy getting dressed up for your evening meal. You may end up on a cruise where the dress code is very casual and you would look out of place in a dinner suit or party dress.

If you are travelling with youngsters make sure the ship you select is child friendly and has a childrens club. Most of the newer ships have separate kids pools, clubs for children of different ages and in some cases a special eating area for them as well. If the kids are happy the grownups can relax and be happy as well.

When making that cruise selection make sure you do a little checking first so that you enjoy your very first vacation on a ship as you should.
