A Diet You Can Zone In On

Dieting has become a whole new science today. Gone are the days, when dieting only meant starving oneself to lose the extra pounds! Diets have become much more sophisticated and health conscious. Today, people have understood the fact that eating right kind of food and not starving is the key to losing weight. There are some new and innovative diet plans which are very popular worldwide. One of the most famous of such diets is the Zone Diet. This diet is based on motto of creating a hormonal balance in the body that would help us control our hunger with lesser food. The best thing about this diet is that it helps us lose weight but doesnt compromise on the nutritional value of our daily diet.

A zone diet meal plan basically divides our every meal in three zones. The first zone is of Carbohydrates that we can get from various sources like bread, rice, vegetables, fruits etc. This zone should cover 50% of the entire meal. The second zone is of Proteins that we can get from meat, fish, lentils, curd etc. The protein zone should cover 30% of the meal. The remaining 20% should be covered by fat like oil, butter, cheese etc.

Even though, the zone diet meal plan is a matter of debate but recent studies have shown that this diet helps to lose weight at a steady and reasonable speed. Many followers have claimed that they have lost fat and gained muscle mass after following this diet for two to three weeks. In Sears term, the word Zone means the right hormone balance.

The zone diet tries to create a state of equilibrium in our body where our insulin levels are neither too high nor too high. This effect helps us retain our energy level while taking lesser calories. This is helps us burn more calories and lose weight.

While on a zone diet, it is essential to follow the zone diet plan. It is also important that you include the right kind of food items in your meal. Instead of taking 2 or 3 big meals, try taking 4 to 6 smaller meals in a day.

In all of the nutrition groups i.e., Carbohydrates, fats and proteins, you will find many options. Try to choose healthier options, for e.g., choose whole wheat bread rather than white bread and poultry instead of red meat.

Apart from the diet, regular workout is also important to keep the body and mind alert and active. Try to at least do some light exercise or Yoga for 3 to 5 days a week. Regular exercise will let you lose those extra inches much faster.
