Most people suffer from eye problems and there is little wonder they wish to eliminate them. Such individuals may now enjoy some form of effective treatment known as lasik eye surgery. This treatment offers promising results and is based on lasers which are convenient and widely accepted.
Finding the right surgeon to perform the operation might not be that easy though. Due diligence has to be carried out by the patient to protect his own interests. No one would wish to undergo surgery that did not have the desired outcome.
One of the first things that you should do is to check the surgeon’s credentials against the accreditation body of plastic surgeons in your country. Most practicing doctors will be registered accordingly else they are not legally allowed to do so. But some might have avoided the administration process so it is for your own safety that this is ensured.
It is also important to not just rely on a single consultation. There will be some cost involved having to see a few surgeons. But it is necessary to make sure the best one is selected as well as receiving the best diagnosis.
During each consultation, determine the surgeon’s case history and ask them to provide some statistics in order to help you make the right decision. If they have recommended a specific lasik treatment, enquire about their track record with that particular method. This is an important process as it can filter the proven surgeons from those who lack experience.
Enquire about the doctor’s experience with the various types of lasik procedures. Surgeons who have prior experience with the different procedures are usually more proficient compared to those versed in only a single treatment method. This is useful for any patient under them.
Compare the prices that you have been quoted. It is all too easy to opt for the cheapest surgeon available, but it does not guarantee a successful outcome. You should relate the prices with the experience, track record and portfolio of the different surgeons in making the final choice.
Lasik surgery has enjoyed high success rates and patients should not be worried about the validity of the methods used. The benefit of having a better life with improved vision is also an attractive one. You can help to ensure that by selecting the best lasik surgeon available.
The most significant impact a person can have on their long term career earnings is to engage in salary negotiating early in their career. This will have a direct impact on the amount of earning potential they have in their future.
This should be considered whether it is a first job out of school or a mid-career job change. Beyond that, there are impacts even when you are working for an employer that you are very happy with. Not engaging in salary negotiation at the right time can have real financial impact.
During your career, you may earn pay raises and job advances within the company that you work for, but when the company offers regularly scheduled increases, as many companies do, the impact of your starting salary with that employer is significant.
This not only applies to your first salary and subsequent incremental raises but also to salary market differentials when you changes roles within a company. You may move into a job requiring significantly more responsibility or effort, but the salary you had beforehand can influence the starting salary of the new job.
Take for example a person starting a new job as a business analyst in a software company somewhere in the US. Say for example that person begins with a starting salary of $45,000. Most likely that person will have to put in 6 months to a full year before they are offered their first pay increase. Suppose it is a 10% pay raise which would be SIGNIFICANT in many companies. The employee would gain an additional $4500 per year because of that increase.
Suppose that same person started at $55,000 or more. That same pay hike of 10% would provide the same employee $5500 additional salary per year. With the first salary band, the employee would still be under the $50,000 mark after one full year of effort and after a 10% pay increase, while in the second situation the employee would be at over $60,000 a year after a 10% pay increment.
Imagine the compound impact of these two starting salaries on the person’s earning potential. First let’s examine a four year timeline, all other things being equal (that is, assuming no pay raises and no promotions). The employee earning $45,000 will have earned $180K in gross salary in four years. The person earning $55K will have earned $220,000 in 4 years. That is a $40,000 difference just because of where the person started in terms of salary.
Introduce a ten percent raise after year 1 and consider the impact as the person moves through their career. The person with a most salary in the beginning will always be ahead of the person with the lower starting salary, all things being equal (i.e. identical job, identical job performance). The person with the higher salary will be getting ahead faster than the person starting with the lower salary. This impact multiplies with each coming year assuming the same annual percentage pay raise for each.
When requesting a pay increase, if a person earning $50,000 earns a 5% raise without negotiating anything additional, that’s okay. But consider the impact if the person negotiates a 15% increase because they have really performed well in the job and they have all the supporting research and a track record to command it. That employee will have negotiated $7,500 in a raise versus just accepting $2500. Multiply that by 10 years, and there is a clear $50,000 difference in the person’s salary potential.
Many experts suggest that it is better to try negotiating a raise or an improvement to the compensation package than to simply receive the package that is offered. The first offer is often the lowest offer and can be improved with salary negotiation. This negotiation must be done with care and must be well based with a supporting case for the difference.
One must also analyze factors such as market, corporate guidelines, and personal performance. However when done well, it can really pay off. Remember to consider the value of all factors of compensation when asking for a raise. Some people truly value free time, their quality of life, while others are willing to take a chance and maybe accept stock options in lieu of pay.
However, when it comes to salary negotiation, don’t be afraid to consider asking for more salary.
This year Valentines Day, February 14, 2009, is on a Saturday. This is not a work day so you can get creative with your gifts and flower delivery in Orlando. I’ll share a few secrets. First, what does your valentine usually do on Saturdays? Does she work around the house, shopping or spend time with the kids? Is there a certain time of the day she likes like to workout? Does your special Valentine have a job that requires her to work on Saturday? Make sure the flowers are delivered when she is home and will get them right away. If you have to send them to work, make sure they arrive at specific time.
Make a note of what she usually does on Saturdays? Does she run errands, clean up the house or spend time just relaxing? Is there a an activity she does routinely each Saturday? Does your love one have to work on Saturdays? If she is going to be home schedule the flowers to be delivered when you know she will answer the door. If send them to work is the only option, order them to arrive just before she takes her break.
My husband is a romantic guy, he once had the service deliver the flowers when I was helping as a parent teacher for my 6 year old’s kindergarden class. This year the kids will not be in school but maybe at an activity like church or practice – it all about the element of suprise.
If your up for it, try to get your sweetie to be a specific place at a specific time. This usually requires help. Have you ever had flowers delivered while you were having dinner at her favorite restaurant? Plan to take her to a movie or a play or maybe a dance club an have them delivered there. Make sure your florist can deliver anywhere and at any time in Orlando. If your going out, most places will need to be called ahead of time to work ou the details
Everybody likes to participate in making somebody happy, ask you contact at the business if they have any suggestions from past experiences. All of the good managers will go out of there way to help you. And don’t for get to tiop them if they do. Your valentine will be impressed at the time and effort you put in to make her feel special.
Which flowers do you choose? Thats the next question. In a city like Orlando you can virtually get anything you can imagine. Ok, where to start? Think about what is her favorite flower or maybe her favorite flower color. If your having trouble coming up with an original idea, ask her mother or a sister. They always know.
If its roses, be careful. Each color offers a slightly different meaning: red means love; pink is for gratefulness and appreciation (usually reserved for friends and family); purple means love at first sight; orange shows desire; yellow is a sign of friendship and happiness; peach is both sympathy and gratitude; and white symbolizes respect and humbleness.
A little research into flowers can offer certain ideals about them and their meanings. Then, when you send a unique flower and she asks why you had an Azalea bouquet delivered, you can answer, ‘Because you are my first true love.’ Or, when she wonders why you chose Daffodils you can romantically answer, ‘They are to remind you that you are the only one.’ If you lack the creative ability to choose the perfect flower for delivery in Orlando, dont hesitate to ask the florist ” they are the experts!
One of my newsletter subscribers asked me whether or not it was okay to talk about salary during the first interview with an employer. They were worried that it would give the wrong impression. How could they avoid revealing their salary expectations too soon? They were wondering how they could postpone this discussion until the right time. My golden rule is to never lie to anyone. Therefore you need some good strategies to avoid this topic until the last minute.
In the past, I have been in the same situation, and have been pressured for a response to the tough questions on salary. My approach has been as follows.
1) My first response would be to try to defer the topic until later. Because we haven’t really gotten through the responsibilities of the job, nor the contributions I can make in the new position. The new job is somewhat different from the past job because the company’s market, product or industry are somewhat different than the past companies. Therefore the past salary history is not all that applicable. I would prefer to be paid in accordance with the market and the company’s hiring practices.
2) I have been pressed for an answer several times, and my response is to first try to push it until later in the meeting. I explain that while it is important to me, it is not the most important factor. I would rather ensure that both the employer and I are happy with one another, and that the job lines up with my experience and that my contributions and the company’s salary line up within both a fair market value and within the company guidelines. There are many factors beyond just cash that need to be discussed before we can address the salary bottom line.
3) While you may feel you are a high performer, you also may be somewhere above average but not commanding the highest pay. Know the salary range for the job you are applying to, but be realistic when setting your percentile level for your salary expectation. The majority of people are between the 25% and 75% level. Remember that the employer will confirm your performance level with your past employers at reference checking time.
4) Even if you had been making a lower than average salary before, possibly even well below the average for that job in that market, you should expect to be paid within that fair market range when you go to your next career opportunity. You may have one of many reasons for accepting a job at a lower salary than at your previous job. It doesn’t explain your value to the new company. The end analysis is that your value to the market is what the market is currently defining as the salary range for your talent, your level of performance and experience in the industry.
5) If you disclose your salary history information, remember to state your case about the relevance of the information. You may give your personal reasons for accepting the lower pay, but most important is to explain you want the outcome of the salary negotiation to be one where both parties are respected, and that they feel a sense of win-win in the outcome.
Never lie to a prospective employer. This is cardinal rule number one. The new company will find out facts and do their legwork to assess your history and past performance. You need to clearly communicate the value you bring and that your past salary history whether high or low is not too pertinent to the new job. You need to be met with fairness in the recruiting process, and that your value proposition is clear and well expressed.
If you do a search on the internet for private tuition you will soon discover that there are many tuition agencies offering private tuition by a wide range of qualified and unqualified tutors. Researchers have reported that there may be more than one in four state school pupils in England having private tuition after school to help them with their studies. A survey of 3,000 primary and secondary school students in England showed 27% of them had private tuition.
Most parents who decide to use private tuition for their children are looking for tutors to support their children’s learning in Mathematics and English. This is particularly the case for pupils of primary school age. Private tuition for secondary school pupils may extend to foreign language tuition and the sciences.
Generally speaking, most primary school pupils having private tuition do so in order to help them achieve the national average level or better in their Year 6 SAT’s (Standard Assessment Tests) which will help to get them to the desired learning level or setting group in their chosen secondary school. Private tuition for secondary school age children is usually to help them gain higher grades in their GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations.
To fit around the school day, private tuition is usually held after school and sometimes on Saturday mornings. Lessons are usually taken once or twice a week. Most lessons usually last for an hour but older children may extend the lessons to an hour and a half. Those with poorer concentration and younger children may find that lessons of forty five minute are more appropriate. Some tutors will offer tuition during half-term breaks and through the long summer holidays.
Private tuition is usually carried out individually but sometimes there may be a few children of similar ability who could join together for their tutoring. Charges will reflect the number of students having their tuition together in the same group. One-to-one tuition will be more expensive than private tuition that takes place in groups but this is compensated for by the advantages of fewer distractions and the individual attention that the child receives.
The main reason for taking private tuition is to ensure that areas of uncertainty in the child’s education can be identified so that a programme of work can be devised to shore up the foundations and improve learning in the relevant areas.
Assessments will be carried out to see what level the student is currently working at and if there are any significant gaps in their learning that may be causing problems. The private tuition will then focus on these areas. The tutor’s goal is to boost their student’s self confidence in the subject and to ensure that progress is made.
Private tuition ensures that the student can enjoy the personal attention of the tutor for the full period of the lesson on a one-to-one basis. Ideas, strategies and methods can be highly focussed. Working in this way, misconceptions can be cleared up so that the student does not have trouble with the subject in later life. These tightly focussed private lessons enable worthwhile progress to be made and the children benefit from the tutor’s undivided attention.

The previous versions ran on Windows Mobile 5, but have since upgraded to Windows Mobile 6. Windows Mobile 5 was a great relief to PDA owners. In previous versions, if the battery ran dead, then all information would be lost. Mobile 5 eliminated this by storing the information on a flash drive. The handhelds software also improved with version 6, with advanced capabilities, more storage and a feature that allows the PDA to act as a Smartphone.

While you may have never heard of it before, pelvic inflammatory disease causes blocked tubes which can cause infertility. That may be the sad diagnosis you receive when trying to figure out why you can’t have a baby. If you haven’t reached that point yet or want to alert other women, then learn what you can through this article and then seek out more information.
The number of women who suffer from this disease is very hard to know. After all, it is called a silent disease because the symptoms can be so mild that no help is sought or a woman doesn’t even show symptoms. Then there are the women with acute pelvic inflammatory disease. The CDC reckons that number at about 1,000,000 a year. How many really suffer from this disease? Who knows? But it is much more than the one million acute sufferers.
While we have no way to know the actual number of women who catch this disease each year, we do know it is more than the one million acute cases. A conservative figure of 12% is given as the amount of these women who end up with blocked tubes and infertility. Just using that on the one million acute cases number, you can see that 120,000 women end up infertile each year. Some authorities give the percentage as 20% which would mean at least 200,000 women. That doesn’t count in all the silent sufferers and to do so would make those numbers very scary indeed. Add to this the infertility chances given to women who go through this for the third time, 50%, and it could make even the stoutest soul cry.
The highest risk group of women for pelvic inflammatory disease is those under 25. This is explained by the fact that the cervix is not fully mature in this age group. The cause of PID is bacteria and other organisms getting through the cervix and entering the upper reproductive organs. This bacteria can be introduced by STIs, by douching and by some gynecological exams or surgeries.
Pelvic inflammatory disease by virtue of the infection and inflammation causes scarring on the reproductive organs affected. This scarring leads to the blocked tubes that leads to infertility. PID can also be the reason behind ectopic pregnancies and abscesses as well as chronic pain. However, it is easily treated with antibiotics even if it is not easily diagnosed. This is why it is so important to get regular exams and to talk to your doctor if anything seems wrong.
Unfortunately for a woman who already had PID and has blocked tubes, this information won’t help much. What recourse do you have now? While your doctor will probably suggest IVF, check out tubal surgery to repair your blocked tubes instead. It is less expensive and doesn’t mess with your body like IVF does. You may discover tubal surgery for blocked tubes is the best action you can take.
In tubal surgery, the bad part of your fallopian tube will be removed. Then depending upon where it is the surgeon will sew together what is left or create a new fimbrial end. In PID many times the fimbrial end is what is scarred. Once the repairs are made and you recover, you can go on to have your child, or children, the natural way. If you research the topic, you will see that tubal surgery has better chance of succeeding than IVF
While you do want to do your best to avoid PID if you can, the second best thing is to catch it early and get treatment. If however you have discovered you are now infertile due to blocked tubes caused by pelvic inflammatory disease, then seek out a tubal surgeon for tubal surgery to remove the blockage.
