Working on a Computer Science Assignment

Posted By Admin on September 19, 2008 @ 3:01 pm

Even though I love computer programming, sometimes I find taking it in college to be a little tedious.

Unlike writing an essay that can usually be done in one day, writing the code for software solutions to common problems can take many days, if not a week.  The problem is that you need to code it and then test it to see if there are any bugs which takes a lot of time.

That is why I am starting on my computer science assignment early as I don’t want to have any last minute problems like I did last year.  So, I have been working on the assignment a little each day in hopes of getting it done early.

So far, I have the TAB to CSV functionality working correctly, and I am going to start working on the CSV to SQL module tonight.  I am hoping that it goes smoothly and that I will still have time to go out – I guess I will just have to wait and see…

Finding a Job in Australia

Posted By Admin on September 13, 2008 @ 9:27 am

After my sister in law received her nursing degree, she decided that she wanted to travel the world.  Since her husband worked at home and they had no kids, it was going to be their opportunity to travel before they settled down to have a family.

Their biggest problem was that they didn’t know how to find a job in Australia as all their job hunting experience was based on finding a job in their hometown.  They decided that they would take a look online to see if there were any nursing jobs in Australia that she would be qualified for.

Their fears were quickly dismissed as they learned that there was an excess of health care jobs available and that she could work pretty much at a moments notice.

She applied for a couple of jobs, did some interviews over the phone, and had a job ready for her as soon as they moved there.  For them, it ended up being a dream come true.

Protecting my Television

Posted By Admin on September 10, 2008 @ 1:36 am

I just recently purchased a plasma television for my business.  We will be using it to communicate some of the services that our company offers to the customers that are waiting in the reception area.  I thought that it would be a great way to educate our customers while they were waiting.

But since the television was going to be out in public, I wanted to make sure that it would be protected from damage.  It wasn’t that we couldn’t afford to replace it if we needed to, but I just didn’t want to have to get to that point.

So, I made sure to buy  a TV screen protector while I was at the store as per the advice given to me by the salesperson.  They made a good argument why businesses should buy TV screen protectors and how I would recoup my investment quickly.

For me, protecting the television just made sense.

Planning Ahead for a Great Trip

Posted By Admin on September 9, 2008 @ 11:17 am

I don’t get to travel as much as I would like, so it is especially important that I plan my trips to the tee.  When I go to travel, I want to make sure that the experience is extraordinary, and that I come home with amazing memories, not disappointments.

In order to ensure that I end up having perfect travel plans, I make sure to make plenty of lists and do a lot of research.

The lists help me to make sure that I don’t forget anything.  This includes my luggage and other preparations that I have to do before the trip such as arrange for someone to take care of my fish while I am gone.  I don’t want to have to be called back early from my trip due to some calamity, so I make sure that I have lists for everything.

I also do research by reading the couple of good travel blog sites that I have found.  They not only give me good insight and advice, but also help me to know what to expect from my trip and destination.

Yes, the key to a great trip is planning ahead – at least that is what works for me.

Perfect Brochure Photograph

Posted By Admin on September 6, 2008 @ 4:19 pm

When we decided that we were going to get into the travel business, we knew that we needed to display images on our website and brochure that reflected the experience that we gave our clients.  We didn’t want to use poor quality pictures, and we wanted to stand out from our competitors.

It was at that point that we decided that instead of purchasing some old photo CD, that it would make more sense to find some stock photos royalty free online.  I thought that the wide selection of stock photography agencies would make it easier for us to find those perfect pictures for our progress.

It took us a few days of looking at stock photo after stock photo, but we were finally able to narrow it down to the magic few that were going to be in our brochure.  We did the copy for it and sent it off to the printing company to have them professionally printed.

Now we will have to wait and see the final project, but I am sure that it will look great.

Looking for an Antispyware Solution

Posted By Admin on September 5, 2008 @ 9:25 pm

After many years of using free antispyware software, I felt that it was time for a switch.  This chance of heart wasn’t out of the blue, but rather because of what the free software I was using missed.  In fact, I didn’t know how badly infected my computer was until it started working too slowly to do anything – it was at that point I realized that I had a problem.

But according to the free software solution that I was using, there was nothing wrong with my computer.

It was at this point that I came across a SpyHunter review, and according to the author’s review, it looked like the solution to my problems.  In fact, I didn’t even hesitate to pickup a copy of SpyHunter to tackle my problem.

Did it work?

You bet.  In fact, I don’t think I will ever go back to using free software ever again – my computer is now running smoothly again without having to reinstall Windows.  What a sigh of relief.
