Training Day

I just started a new job at a store that rents just about everything.  Most of the stuff that is rented at the shop is pretty straight forward, and we do little but get the customer to sign the rental agreement, and send them on their way.  These are the easiest things that we do there, but there are other things that we rent that require a little more knowledge to do properly.

For example, the party tents, obstacle courses and inflatable slides are required to be setup on site.  We do this for the customer as both a service, and so that we ensure that there are no problems with them prior to the customer doing them.  Previously, we had let the customers set them up themselves, but we had a number of them damaged because of it.

So, today we learned how to setup the many items that we rent that require installation.  Though most of them were pretty easy to do, I had some problems with the party tent I was setting up.  Needless to say, I will be looking forward to setting up on site – it will be a nice break from the office.
