Everything Will Be Alright

Posted By Mitefind on May 14, 2008 @ 10:50 am

My young son was just recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. I was very scared about this and I was not sure how I was going to deal with the fact that there was something wrong with my perfect little baby. It felt as though I was in a fog when I went to pick up his sleep apnea machine. It was like it wasn’t real to me.

I felt as though I had so much to learn and so little time to learn it all.  I certainly did not know what a CPAP machine is but I knew that I was going to have to learn and I was going to have to take care of my son to the best of my abilities.

My husband came with me when I went to pick up the CPAP supply but I was so glad to have them with me because he was definitely the sanest of the two of us.  I know we have a long road ahead of us but we are dealing with it and I know in the end everything will be all right.

Building the Deck to be Just Right

Posted By Deb Gallardo on May 13, 2008 @ 1:51 pm

Crunch! Thunk! Splat! Choom!

Ouch!

Ching! Thonk! Ping! Whack!

No, this isn’t an excerpt from a vintage comic book. It’s the sounds, traveling in time, from the year I demolished a brick stoop. Six months pregnant.

It’s amazing the satisfaction you get from tearing something down on purpose. I took out a lot of frustration on chipping away at the old brick and mortar.

Of course that summer was less about demolishing than about building – not to mention growing a baby. And build we did, one of those two-level wood decks that look so great in the plan books. At least that was the goal, but expectations exceeded my husband’s capabilities. But even if the final design wasn’t what we’d originally hoped for, it was still one of the nicest decks in the neighborhood.

The decking expanse wasn’t nearly as large I wanted, but it turned out to there was plenty of room for barbecuing and the baby’s playpen. What more could I ask?

Mixed Martial Arts Clothing Lines

Posted By Jenn Brockman on May 12, 2008 @ 8:51 pm

Have you seen the clothing worn by MMA fighters? I just love the designs on their shirts and shorts!
MMA clothing is often designed with a particular fighter in mind and even with a whole crew or club.
Tapout and a Throwdown are just two brands that come to mind when I think of seeing fighters in the ring.

Both of those brands and many others make clothing for the whole family of MMA fans. From babies to moms, there is a style and design that is up to date, fun, and well made. You can get shirts that support your favorite fighter or just the brand itself.

There are even backpacks and belts that sport the MMA labels. While these clothes will set you back a little bit, they are well made and meant to last a while. Hopefully your favorite fighter will last as long as your shirt does.

The Theatre, Ah, the Theatre

Posted By Deb Gallardo on @ 2:00 pm

I have been in love with musical theatre since I was 14 years old, especially after I was cast in my first Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. Since then I have been not only an active participant in theatrical productions. These include musicals, dramas, and comedies. And I participated in various roles, from artistic director, assistant director, music director and actor.

But I also never miss an opportunity to see theatre whenever I can afford it. A friend and I have been to more shows than I can count over the past six and a half years, from community theatre to semi-professional theatre, to collegiate-level theatre. Up until recently we hadn’t seen any professional productions. But that’s going to change.

I was looking at the local event news, and there are shows coming to our area that I don’t want to miss. Thanks to some inside information I learned about recently, I even know how to get discounted tickets. There’s just nothing quite like a top-notch performance to set me to singing all the way home.

Leasing Office Space

Posted By Admin on @ 12:30 pm

The property management company that I work for has recently acquired a client with a large number of office buildings downtown.  We will be in charge of leasing the office space for them and we need to fill the mostly vacant space with paying tenants.

In an effort to fill the spaces, management has conceived the idea that we should have a party on the location, open to businesses in the city that need office space.  It will not only give them a first person look at the location, but will also allow us to have the opportunity to convince them why they need to have an office with us.

Before this party will occur, we are getting a commercial photographer to come in and take pictures of the venue to generate interest for the party.

If this event ends up being the success that we forecast it to be, I think that we will use parties in the future to lease other commercial properties.

Meeting My Mentor

Posted By Mitefind on May 11, 2008 @ 11:14 am

When I was going to medical school I was working closely with a surgeon who specialized in carpal tunnel surgery. It was a field that I was interested in going into and it was suggested that I spend some time with him during his surgeries to find out if that was really what I wanted to do.

During the same time, I was given an assignment to find out how many cases there were of carpal tunnel in Orange County. The number that I came up with was quite astounding, but it did not surprise the surgeon at all. In fact, he told me that there were many more cases than what I had come up with because some people would never seek medical advice on the condition.

I really enjoyed my time working with him and he became one of my greatest mentors. I did end up specializing in the field and I did my internship with him. I still see him quite often and I seek out his advice when I am looking for a second opinion.

Men’s Jewelry Preferences

Posted By Admin on May 10, 2008 @ 2:34 pm

I have a lot of buddies that wear a lot of jewelry.  Earrings, ring, and chains are the common ones that I find and there is a lot of variation between people as to how much they wear.

But for me personally, I have never really been big on mens jewelry.  Sure, I wear my wedding ring and the occasional chain, but I can count on one hand the number of pieces that I own.

I have often wondered if I was a little strange, but if I look where I grew up, it would explain many things.  The two most influential men in my life (my father and my uncle) never really wore much for jewelry either.  I guess when you grow up with role models like that, it is bound to affect how you turn out.

So, if you are thinking of getting me a piece of jewelry for my birthday, or any other gift giving occasion, STOP!  You are probably wasting your money.

Wedding limos needed

Posted By Jenn Brockman on @ 1:53 pm

My sister in law is getting married this summer and the last detail is hiring a Philadelphia limo service. They left it till last because they weren’t sure what they needed or for how many.

The details have been worked out now and they know they need enough room for the bride, groom, parents of both, and the maid of honor and brides maids as well as the groomsmen.

They want to have one limo for the bride and her maids and one limo for the groom and his men to use on the way to the service, then the bride and groom will ride together after the ceremony to the party. The family and maids and groomsmen can ride in the other cars.

They are having an outside wedding then moving to a hotel for the party which why they need several cars. It took them forever to decide how they wanted to do that part which is why we are down to just a month or two to find the service.

My Spanish Mentor

Posted By Mitefind on May 9, 2008 @ 6:22 pm

When I was in high school I was absolutely thrilled when I got Mrs. Gonzalez as my Spanish teacher. She was amazing and she had a great success rate with her students. It was almost as if she knew exactly what each of us needed and she was there to give it to us.

She had studied at Spanish School Antigua Guatemala and she told us that if we ever had the opportunity to go and learn there that we would have such a love for the language. She inspired me to become a Spanish teacher myself.

Although the opportunity has never come up for me to go and study at her beloved school, I am still hoping to one day visit there. She has since gone back home to South America and I would love to have the chance to go and see her one day and let her know just how big of an impact that she had on my life. I am sure she would be proud.

Choosing the Right Company

Posted By Mitefind on May 8, 2008 @ 10:50 am

When I was looking for a way to promote my many websites, a friend suggested that I look into SEO consultancy services. I was not really sure what this was all about, but I thought that I would make and appointment to talk to someone and see what they could do for me and my websites.

I checked into several SEO companies and made appointments at a half a dozen of them. I was pleased with what they promised they could offer me and I decided that maybe I should give it a try for a few months, just to see what would happen. I now had the job of making the decision about what company I was going to go with.

Although they all offered guaranteed SEO results, I decided that I would use the one that cost the least. I know that if I am not happy with what they offer me or with the results that I receive, I can always go back and try a more costly company. For now though, I am ready to see things start to happen and I can only hope it happens quickly.
