My Guidance Counselor

Before I went to college, I went and had a long heart to heart talk with my high school guidance counselor. I wanted to know what I should expect when it came time to write university level term papers. I wanted to be as prepared for the experience as anyone can be. He reassured me that I was making a bigger deal about it than I need be.

I knew that the research papers in college would be marked a lot tougher than they had been in high school, but the counselor assured me that I was going to do just fine. He told me that if I gave my college classes the same amount of effort as I had given my high school classes, that one day he would not be surprised to be calling me doctor.

I asked him if he wouldn’t mind reading through the essay that I had written to send in with my college application. He read it and told me that I had nothing to worry about. He said that I should be receiving my acceptance letter at any time and told me to come by and see him any time that I needed to talk. I think I may take him up on that offer, but for now, I will wait by the mailbox for that letter to arrive.
