Looking For a Needle in a Haystack

Posted By Mitefind on January 26, 2008 @ 3:03 pm

I was curious to know if an auction site had archives of their old auctions that had long since ended. I remembered bidding on something more than six months ago. I did not win the auction, but was interested in contacting the seller with a question about the item.

I did a free search on the site and was pleased to find that they did, indeed have old auctions that could be brought up again. The hard part was going to be finding the particular auction that I had been interested in.

I had been looking for some digital media supplies that a particular person had been selling, and now that I was buying some, I had wanted to ask the man a question about it, since it was apparent during the auction, that he was very knowledgeable about the products.

I eventually found the auction and tried to contact the gentleman, but was informed that he presently had nothing for sale and so, could not be contacted. I was bummed, but I had tried my best.

Without Promotion, Your Site Is Doomed

Posted By Mitefind on January 25, 2008 @ 12:24 pm

I often wonder how many people who own websites and businesses on the Internet know what article marketing is. I have heard so of so many people who have tried to run website businesses and failed.

Even though some of the ideas were good and the websites were developed well, what the people lacked was the ability to utilize the online media to promote their site. Without promotion, a site is going to go nowhere.

There are so many ways to achieve higher search engine rankings, that there is no way a site should go un-promoted and end up being a complete flop. I do have to admit that I do very well on in the Internet market because of these sites.

I offer to buy these dud sites at a very low cost, do a little bit of Internet marketing, and then sell them at quite a profit. It is not dishonest and it is what I like to do. Half of these people would not take the time to promote, even if they knew how.

Trying To Do My Taxes

Posted By Mitefind on January 24, 2008 @ 1:22 pm

I was going through my investments the other day, as I am in preparation for tax season and doing up my taxes. Tax season is always a fun time for me, and if you can’t sense the sarcasm there, I don’t know what is wrong.

This year, in particular, is going to be quite a headache. I am new at dealing with profit systems and it is scaring me a little bit. I know I can do it, but it seems a bit daunting to begin with.

I need to be able to separate the real profits from the other profits. Some days I think it would be best if it was all left to the accountant, but then, I would never learn anything, and I would like to be able to do it all myself one day.

Looking through some business reviews gave me a better idea about where I needed to be putting things and in which columns they belonged. I am, of course, just doing a rough draft. I will leave the real thing up to my accountant.

Demonstrations Sell Products

Posted By Mitefind on January 23, 2008 @ 11:51 am

I worked for awhile at Costco handing out samples of different food items to customers. I did not mind the job, as many of the customers were regulars and I got to know them fairly well. It was nice to get some consumer reviews on the products, and I firmly do believe the samples sold more products.

The product reviews were usually fairly positive. There were certain things that some didn’t care for, like a particular food being too spicy, but others loved it. The worst part for me was when I had to demonstrate a product in which I was not too particular of the smell.

The news and opinions of new products was key to the success of the company. If people did not know what it was or how it tasted, they simply would not buy it. That is why sample demonstration is so important.

I think they should also set up a page in which they could take website reviews on the products that the consumer tries while in store. They may be more honest, not having to answer questions about the product face to face.

Studying World Decorating Choices

Posted By Mitefind on January 22, 2008 @ 7:33 pm

In my interior design class, we have been learning about different kinds of decorating situations around the world. I have found the class to be very interesting, as I have always been fascinated with architecture and furniture. I am a big fan of contemporary furniture and decided that I would like to write a paper on where and when this originated.

I absolutely love contemporary bedroom furniture and I own a few pieces myself, so I am rather curious to learn about different era patterns of furniture and how long we can expect this contemporary furniture era to last. The Victorian era was over hundreds of years ago, and yet some people still love the style of that era.

Modern furniture is a relatively new fashion. Hence the name, modern. But, I expect it will be around for a long time. There are many people who do not care for this style of decorating, but there are others that absolutely love it.

Buying Car Insurance

Posted By Mitefind on January 21, 2008 @ 3:43 pm

I was looking online for some insurance reviews the other day. My insurance is coming up for renewal and I am looking to find the best offers available to me, as I am accident free and a very safe driver.

I found a lot of different store reviews that sell insurance and was looking into the ones that are in my town. I would prefer to deal with a real person, rather than buying insurance online, but again, would go with whatever was the best deal for me.

While browsing, I found an advertisement for an online business academy that offered classes on selling insurance. This was amusing to me, as I thought most people hated insurance salesmen and was wondering why anyone would pay to become one.

In the end, I found a great deal on insurance and was impressed to find out that the office was located in my town. I went down and obtained all the paperwork I needed, paid for five years, and now I am good to go.

Better than the Real Thing

Posted By Admin on @ 12:56 pm

I have owned a number of high end watches in my lifetime, and I have never really been impressed.  Sure, the watches look nice, but from my experience the durability of the watch is lackluster at best.  In my quest to find the luxury watch looks with better quality, I happened to stumble upon replica watches.

My first reaction was that they would be of poorer quality compared to the real thing, but I decided that the price merited that I try them out.  At less than half the price, there had to be a good market for watch replicas – so I had to buy one.

I ended up purchasing a Rolex replica watch that looked so much like the original, I had to do a double take.

Now, three months later, my replica is still running strong and looking good.  My results lead me to wonder if a replica is better than the real thing?

Different Interests Online

Posted By Admin on January 20, 2008 @ 6:09 pm

Now, if you were to compare me to my brother, I would hope you would say that we are different.  I mean, sure we sort of look the same (I would like to think that we don’t), but beyond that there is not too many similarities.  We have both made different choices in life and have had different results.  A good example of it is what we look at online.

For example, the websites I look at are some of sites with the best reviews that are available online.  I use these sites to help me make decisions regarding shopping, products I buy, and websites I visit.  I am the type of person that likes to educate themselves before I make choices – I don’t like to make them on the spot.

On the other hand, my brother is completely different.  All his surfing habits involve visiting very cool websites – mostly ones that have just stupid stuff on them.  The worst part about this is that he sends me links to these sites, telling me that it is just cool stuff – which most of it isn’t.

But thankfully though we both have different interests, we can find those things that do interest us online.  In that respect, we are the same.

Popular Shopping Items Online

Posted By Admin on January 19, 2008 @ 11:42 pm

In the past year or so, I have decided to try selling things online.  With this idea in mind, I created a number of web stores that sell many different things: from clothes to cars.  I figured that if I would diversify my store portfolio, I would have better success.

In all honesty, some of the stores have done a lot better than I have expected, while others have done a lot worse.  For example, one of my better performing sites would be the store I setup that sells unique designer jewelry.

Do I know anything about designer jewelry?

No… not really.  The funny thing about the Internet is that you don’t necessarily need to know anything about the product you are selling – rather you just need to know where to market your product.  In the case of the luxury jewelry site, I found many good places to promote it, and the result has been very popular.

Now, with the successes I have had failures too.  For example, a site I made about socks pretty much sucked.  The biggest thing to note here is that if you don’t try, you won’t know if you could succeed.

Promoting My Sites

Posted By Mitefind on January 18, 2008 @ 8:09 pm

I have a few websites and I am just now learning how to promote them. I looked into some article sites, as I know having some blog articles link to my site would help me with site popularity. I paid someone to write some articles for me, as I am no writer myself, and was quite pleased with the results.

There is one particular site that I was impressed with and I contacted the website advisor to get more information, such as pricing and the amount of time that would be required. They responded quickly and after we made a business deal it made a big difference in traffic to my site.

Another thing I have been doing to better the traffic to my site is keyword research. I figure the more targeted keywords I have liking to the site, the better traffic I am going to have and the closer to the top I will get on the search engines.

I have also invested in some help from some SEO services. I am very happy with the results so far and am pleased to say that my sites are quickly climbing up the ranks and are doing better than ever.
