A Little Present for Mom and Dad

Posted By Admin on December 20, 2007 @ 10:01 am

As Christmas approaches, I am making my final purchases for gifts for the holidays.  I have had to double check my purchases to make sure I haven’t missed anyone, and it looks like there is only one gift left: the gift for my inlaws.

Now, I call my wife’s parents mom and dad, and I have for many years.  They have never been very well off, and I thought years ago that we would buy them a home when we had the money.  Thankfully, our business has been going very well, and this is the year that it will happen.

We have been looking at Asheville real estate for the past few months, trying to find them a place.  Even though there were many Asheville condos we looked at, it wasn’t until last week when we checked out an ad in the paper (it was poor English and read "real estate for sale Asheville") that we found what we had been looking for.

We just finished getting the property transferred to their names yesterday, and the locks changed as well.  So, we are going to wrap up a picture of their place, and their keys, and give it to them Christmas day.  I think they will be happy and surprised at the same time – I cannot wait to see their reaction.

Feeling Like Smashing My Computer

Posted By Mitefind on December 19, 2007 @ 5:47 pm

Sometimes I wonder if I have been cursed with being computer illiterate.  I mean, these computers that they have now are supposed to be user friendly, yet, I have big problems.  Just the other day my computer went to a blue screen and said I had some sort of bla, bla, bla… registry error.   Oh, did I feel like smashing it.

After a walk around the block to clear my head, I came back inside.  You see, I could remember talking to a friend about keeping my computer tuned up and he had given me something to look at.  Thing is I had to find it.

About an hour later, I did find little package that he had given me.  Inside there was an article from a computer magazine that was about registry repair tools.  Reading the article, it was clear that there was reviews of two competing products Regcure and Registry Easy.  Seems that the features presented in the Regcure review and Registry Easy review were pretty much the same.  Except for the screen shots, both software packages looked equal.

But when I made it to the end of the article, I found that the best registry repair award was given to Regcure.  I went to their site, and I am going to try out the trial version of their software, and I will make my buying decision based on my experiences with it.  I guess I won’t be smashing my computer today – but it was sure close.

Found a Solution to our Financial Trouble

Posted By Mitefind on December 18, 2007 @ 5:02 pm

My husband lost his job a year ago, and he has not been able to find anywhere else to work.  He did receive a small severance package that ran out about six months ago, and we have been struggling ever since.  You see, I have only been able to find part time work at a diner, and that is barely putting enough food on the table.

What is worse is that we have been using payday loans to get money before my payday in an effort to pay some of each bill each month.  This has shrunk the amount of money I bring home and that has hurt as well.

Kurt, thought that we could maybe take advantage of the money we have tied up in the house, but when we went to the bank, they would not give us a home equity loan because of our low income level.

We were running out of ideas, and money – we needed a solution before we lost everything.  Thankfully, the help came in the form of a flyer that had information about debt consolidation loans, that would reduce our monthly payments and help us get out of debt.  We are going to apply for one after the holidays, and I hope that it will be the answer to our prayers – if not, I don’t know what we are going to do.

My New Friends

Posted By Mitefind on @ 10:40 am

I had the most wonderful opportunity to host a couple from Spain in my home for two weeks. They run a small holiday rentals business in Spain and were coming here, both for business and also to get a much needed break after the busy tourist season. I did not know this couple, but we had mutual friends, who, for health reasons, were not able to open up their home and asked me if I could.

I did not hesitate and am so glad that they came. I learned so much about their culture and their business. I even got to brush up on my Spanish and, after two weeks, it is not half bad. As part of their business involves motorhome rentals, they were interested in looking at some of the new models we had available over here. I was happy to help out in any way possible and took them to quite a few different dealerships.

Their trip came to an end all too soon. They have become very dear friends to me and I am going to miss them so much. Maybe not for too long, though, as they have told me that during the slow time, when their villa rentals are not all booked, they would love to host me in their country.

Thinking About Prom

Posted By Admin on December 17, 2007 @ 8:31 pm

Even though it is winter, it is not too early to think about prom – at least that is what my daughter says.  She has been spending the past few months looking at dresses, making a list of boys to go with, and trying to find a New York Limousine Rental that she could afford.

Since I am not too good with dresses, or picking out the right boy for her, I decided I could help her with the NYC Limo Rental.

Sure, I had never rented a Limousine before but I helped her find a good rental company.  All we did was go online and search for "Prom Limousine New York".  There were quite a few companies that came up and we checked out the reviews.  Some of them were good, while others were bad.  We picked one of the better ones and booked it for the date of her Prom.

I can’t believe that my little girl is all grown up now.  Seems like just yesterday we were playing in the park.  It will really sink in for me when Prom night comes up – I hope I don’t cry.

Master List of Web Directories

Posted By Mitefind on @ 8:14 am

Boy, do I love web directories.  Sure it takes a bit of time to submit your sites to them, but once you are approved, that is a link pointing to your site for ever.  I really love marketing methods that you only need to do an action once and benefit from it for a long time.

So, I was ecstatic when I discovered the 8000 web directory listings this week.  Inside you will find a gold mine of free and paid places to promote your sites.  Looking for deep links?  They have all the directories that offer deep linking.

Looking at a specific general directory description gives you any important details at a glance, so you can decide which sites to submit your site to.  You can also find listings for niche directories that are the same as your site.

Be sure to bookmark the directory list as it will be an invaluable resource that you can use to promote your sites now and into the future.

Growing a Retirement Nest Egg Quickly

Posted By Admin on December 16, 2007 @ 1:39 pm

For some of you baby boomers out there, you might be headed for financial trouble.  Quite a few of you have not saved enough for retirement and you may find yourselves facing a financial crisis in the near future.  Now, there are ways you can avoid it, read below and check out some of our ideas.

I’ll throw out a bad example first: you could get an additional job.  This would be a method to make some extra income, but it is not very efficient – there are so many hours in the day.  Besides, you probably don’t want to work much more than forty hours per week – which in this case your lack of time may become an inconvenience.

You could also take advantage of many investment programs that are offered online.  There are many of them that can help you make money online through investment in the Forex exchange and other emerging markets.  Just be sure to investigate the investment and the company – you want to ensure that it is a legitimate paying program and a solid investment.

There are quite a few other ways that you can build your retirement nest egg.  Just do a quick search online to find other methods that will help you achieve your financial goals.

Looking for New Ways to Promote My Site

Posted By Mitefind on December 15, 2007 @ 11:48 am

I just have a few websites that I own, so my marketing efforts have been very focused.  My few sites are all content based information sites that offer advice or information for free.  Most of my marketing up to this point has been from articles I have written – I truly love to write.  But I have been thinking that I should market my sites in other ways to reach a broader audience.

While I was looking for ideas in a forum that I frequent, I did come across something that I had never heard about before.  There were quite a few members talking about free directory submissions that they were doing and I had to ask what they were and how they were doing it.

Even though I came across as someone new to the whole Internet marketing arena, they explained that free directories are excellent ways to market your site.  According to what I read, all I had to do was submit my sites to them and wait for my listings to be approved.  It sounded pretty easy.

A couple of hours of submissions later, I realized that even though it was a good method to market my sites, it was not the quickest method.  I decided to hire a directory submission service firm to take care of this aspect of my site promotion.  The money I paid (it sure wasn’t very much money) was well worth the time that I saved.

So, I have added directory submissions to my arsenal of website promotion tools.  Now, I think I am going to look into social bookmarking – that looks interesting as well.

Hello Clean Face

Posted By Mitefind on December 14, 2007 @ 1:01 pm

I am so excited to wake up every morning an look in the mirror.  You see I love looking at myself – not because I am vain, but because it has been three weeks since I got rid of my acne.  Not only does my face look better, but my self esteem is better too.  Would you like to know how I did it?  I would love to share what worked for me, so it can work for you too.

You see, about six months ago, I was facing a problem.  A really big problem.  My acne was out of control and I was starting to get some on my back, and the acne on my face was getting worse.  You wouldn’t believe the number of cleansers I was using to try and get rid of it, but it just wasn’t working.  It was to the point where people were looking at me differently, and I was starting to feel ashamed about how I looked – no one should ever feel like that.

I went to our local drug store and asked the pharmacist if she had any ideas for an acne treatment alternative to cleansers.  She suggested that I take more Vitamin B5 and use Vilantae to reduce the amount of oil my body was producing – which would get rid of my acne.

Guess what?  It worked.  I still take extra Vitamin B5 each day and I have some Vilantae on hand in case I have an outbreak.  If you have an acne problem give it a try – you will be so happy you did!

A Proud AME

Posted By Mitefind on @ 3:56 am

I build various aircraft electrical system parts for a living. I have always been interested in airplanes, but I knew that flying was out of the question, due to my deathly fear of heights. So, I decided to become an Airline Mechanical Engineer.

Avionics is such a worthwhile business to be in because people will always have the need for air travel. I feel that my job of making sure that the aircraft’s electrical system is running effectively is just as important as the job of the pilot to fly the aircraft.

One day, while I was in the office waiting for a delivery of fasteners and other aircraft parts, one of the pilots started asking me questions about the electrical mechanics of the landing gear on the particular plane he was to fly that afternoon. I think that was the first time I realized how important my job really was. There was not one person on that plane who could do what I do and that made me take pride in my job.
